Compliance with Royal Decree 1055/2022 in the Kraft Drum Industry

Since 1 January 2023, Royal Decree 1055/2022, a key piece of legislation on the regulation of packaging and packaging waste in Spain, has been in force. Its objective is to promote sustainability and ensure a more efficient management of the materials used in the industrial sector.
At Joaquín Alberto, we comply with all the requirements established in these regulations, ensuring that our production processes are aligned with the highest environmental standards. However, it is estimated that less than 5% of companies have fully implemented the requirements of this law.
What does Royal Decree 1055/2022 imply?
This regulation introduces significant changes in the management of industrial packaging, including:
- Obligation to reuse and recycle: Packaging must be designed in such a way as to facilitate recycling or reuse.
- Reduction of environmental impact: Priority is given to the use of recycled materials and restrictions are placed on certain types of plastic.
- Extended producer responsibility: Companies must make greater commitments to the collection and treatment of the packaging they place on the market.
Our commitment to regulatory compliance
As part of our sustainability strategy, at Joaquín Alberto we have adapted our processes to guarantee that all our kraft drums comply with current legislation. Some of the actions we have implemented include:
- Use of recycled materials and optimisation of the design of our packaging.
- Implementation of a traceability system for the correct recycling of products.
- Collaboration with certifying bodies to ensure compliance with regulations.
Compliance with Royal Decree 1055/2022 is not only a legal obligation, but also an essential step towards a more sustainable future. We invite all companies in the sector to adopt responsible measures to reduce the environmental impact of their products and contribute to a more efficient circular economy.
