Project ‘10 torns pel col-lapse’.
At Joaquin Alberto SA, we are proud to have contributed to such an innovative project as ‘10 torns pel col-lapse’, winner in the Secondary category of the prestigious DICOLED awards.
This project, created by Felipe Lorenzo Moreno, Oriol Guinart and Víctor López from Institut Ca n’Oriac (Sabadell), Institut Lauro (Barcelona) and ICE_UAB (Cerdanyola del Vallès), is an educational tool that invites reflection on sustainability and the responsible use of energy resources.
A practical approach to teaching sustainability
The project uses a methodology that combines theory with practice through a pedagogical game, designed to introduce students to the challenges of the current energy model.
With the help of our Kraft drums, used at various stages of the project’s development, this initiative captures the students’ attention, creating a tangible and engaging learning experience.
The aim of the game is clear: to manage the energy model of a city for ten turns without the city collapsing, covering the basic needs of the population with the available energy resources.
This activity not only encourages scientific and technological learning, but also helps young people to become aware of the decisions that affect the well-being of society and the environment.
Educational objectives of the project
The main objectives of ‘10 torns pel col-lapse’ are:
- Environmental awareness: To encourage responsibility towards the conservation of natural and cultural resources, which are vital for the well-being of current and future generations.
- Analysis of causes and consequences: Helping students to relate energy decisions to environmental problems and their consequences.
- Real-world simulation: Through the game, students will be able to transfer lessons learned to local realities and propose improvements in resource management.
A resource for higher education
The project is aimed at students in Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Higher Education, and covers areas of knowledge such as science, technology, social and cultural environment.
The activity is not only based on theoretical learning, but also includes practical dynamics that stimulate the creativity of the students, who can come up with new expansions for the game.
Our contribution: high quality Kraft drums
For the development of this project, our Kraft drums were essential.
With indicative measurements of 40 cm in diameter and 30 cm in height, the drums not only met the logistical requirements of the project, but also symbolised the importance of using sustainable materials in educational initiatives that promote respect for the environment.
At Joaquin Alberto SA, we are committed to products that reflect our commitment to sustainability and quality.
Collaboration and additional resources
This project is the result of the collaboration of several institutions such as EduglobalStem, Edualter, the School for a Culture of Peace and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona.
For those who wish to learn more about this didactic proposal, it is available on various educational platforms and in the CRP of the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
We are very pleased to have been part of a project that not only rewards educational creativity, but also encourages a real change in the mentality of the new generations regarding resource management and sustainability.
